3 min read Beyerdynamic DT 770 vs DT 990: What's the Difference? Updated: Oct 11, 2022 Many of you may be wondering: what's the difference between the Beyerdynamic DT 770 vs DT 990? The short answer is the DT 770s are closed back headphones and the DT 990s are open back headphones.
But I would want to buy an amp/dac for the DT 770 to really get good sound out of those headphones. So I need you guys's opinions on this. Option 1: The MMX 300 gen 2 without an amp/dac. Option 2: The DT 770 pro with a mic and an amp/dac. If, for starters, I would need an amp/dac to make option 1 sound good option 2 already sounds more logical.
They also have more bass and clear high notes. has passive noise reduction. Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO. Beyerdynamic DT 900 Pro X. The device sits tightly in place, creating an acoustic seal which reduces background noise and prevents your music from leaking out.
The DT990 has a much weightier bottom end, the midrange is not as forward or aggressive, and treble is perhaps slightly more sparkling on the 990, maybe even bright, but I suspect, coming from the SR80, you'll find the DT990 quite warm and a little gentle, but still quite fun in their own right, compared to the frankly rather aggressive sound
The Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO and the Philips SHP9500 are both very good audiophile headphones if you like a neutral sound, but they have different sound profiles. The Beyerdynamic reproduce more bass, but they sound fairly sharp and even piercing to some people. The Philips have a significant bass roll-off, but their treble is much better balanced, and they have a more natural-seeming
The 990 has higher highs in particular. To me this made it sound sibilant (/ harsh) and was the main reason for the sale. It's a bit more open - the soundstage is better, but imaging is comparable from one to the other. The 880 has smoother treble and a better low end (but neither model excels here).
DT 990 PRO Headphone sensitivity (dBSPL @ 1 milliwat) 96 Headphone impedance (ohms) 250 Desired loudness (dBSPL) 110 Required power (milliwatts) 25 Required voltage (volts RMS) 2,51 Required current (millamps RMS) 10 but when I look at what an amp offers me, I get the following and I don't know how to relate it. for example:
The Alphas are nothing more than mediocre in terms of sound, and imaging. The DT770 is a starter audiophile closed-back pair, which is probably the most popular closed-back under 200$. There's also, K361 and K371 which are highly recommended headphones, but they tend to have QC issues, so I'm not a fan. [deleted]
